Hi Sheryl. Chances are your thyroid is fine then. However, my experience with doctors is that one needs to check up on them. If they did the TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) test, then check that the number is not over 2.5. Anything over 2.5 is suspect and then one needs to do follow up tests like FT3 and FT4 and a thyroid antibody test to rule out Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
See, as little as 2 years ago doctors did not get worried if your TSH went over 5 or remained under 10. They call it euthyroid. Now we know that someone with such a high TSH is hypothyroid. Hypothyroidism causes metabolism to slow down and weight to pack on among several other symptoms like dry skin, etc. That's what happened to me. I was always slender, until I got the disease, and I only found out about it many years after it had started. One just doesn't suspect. One way to check for Hashimoto's: the outer third of the eyebrows is often quite sparse. One way to check for yourself if you are hypothyroid is to take your temperature at various times and if it hovers around 97 deg. F or lower, you know... (ovulation may skew things as the temperature of the body rises).
Anyway, the only reason I mention this is I felt sorry for you having to deal with fibromyalgia and I've read enough to know that many of these patients are hypothryoid and thyroid hormone clears things up with the fibromyalgia.
