Question Zone Websites Question

Forgive me if this has been asked before - but can anyone tell me which website is the "home" to the Zone Diet?

I have found:

www.zoneperfect.com

www.drsears.com

The first one seems to promote the products and the forum seems to be from '99.

The second seems updated but not that active - or is it new?

Also does Dr. Sears promote the use of Zone Perfect products or are they a gimick riding on the coat tails of Dr. Sears?

Thank you for the replies,
~Danielle

I had the chance to read further into the archives and see that the two are not related although zone perfect does go by the same principles? If I understand this correctly?

Are the products good or in your opinion should be avoided.

I believe that www.zoneperfect.com is the "official" website of the Zone diet. At this site you can buy Zone products (the bars are tasty, and I take their Omega 3 capsules) and get lots of information, recipes, and sign up for a newletter which is sent out on a regular basis via e-mail. There are also calculators that help you figure out how many blocks a day you need, lean body mass, etc. The site is a bit confusing but there is quite a bit of good info here.

www.drsears.com is Dr. Sears' (who established the Zone diet) website, but there are numerous references to the Zone diet (along with message boards, etc.). Dr. Sears also markets his own supplements (which I am assuming are Zone-friendly) such as pharmaceutical-grade fish oil, skin care products, etc...which you can link to via his site.

Thank you for the reply!

I'll have to check out zoneperfect.com again. Perhaps, I didn't navigate thoroughly enough.

How important do you, or anyone on this board, feel the pharmaceutical-grade fish oil is compared to other versions. I don't feel safe about cod liver oil. I am currently taking Twinlab brand Omega-3 "derived from the flesh of deep sea cold water fish".

Dr. Sears and ZonePerfect parted ways several years ago. ZonePerfect has just been bought out by Abbott Labs. We'll see where they go. Both sites are full of valuable and current information. I find ZP easier to navigate, but the Sears site has just as much good information. I think ZP has just had more $$$ to spend on web development.

As far as products... Whatever works for you. I'm not a fan of "fake" food (Zoned or not), so I choose not to use the products on a regular basis. I do have a bar now and then only if I'm in a pinch.

Yes, stay away from cod liver oil. TwinLab is a reputable brand of supplements. I have posted detailed information numerous times on fish oil. I believe you should be able to find those posts in the nutrition/supplements forum.

*Just wanted to note that the Twinlab Omega 3 froze in the freezer!
