Hi, godsgrace, I like your username! My real name (first & middle) means grace & mercy. I am aware of God's grace (and mercy) nearly all the time in my life.
What edition of the book are you using? I have the first edition, and I wonder if I should update to the current version which does clarify some things.
I started this diet in Nov 2009, and though I was set back by kidney stones and related surgery requiring fasting and a break from the routine, this has been my most favorite diet ever. I think it requires a bit more attention to detail, i.e., when you deviate and need to get back on track, but on the other hand, it is very enjoyable and seems to make sense scientifically regarding the need to avoid insulin and glycogen dumping.
I just resumed on June 6 (back to phase one after a long recess.) I had maintained a loss of 10-20 llbs (15 on average) during that time, but look forward to breaking through the 30 lb threshold and onto bigger goals this time around. I have foot surgery scheduled July 1, so I'll have to pick up with phase one after the fasting, but I don't think that's as critical as it is in phase 2 where you have to time your carbs consistently.
Phase one may seem to take a while to get through, but summer's a great time to be on it as your appetite naturally changes with the weather.
Hoping much success for you! Feel free to pm me if you wish. I lost a bunch of friends and free support when Metabolism Miracle Friends form (at boardhost.com) was closed down and changed to a monthly subscription support service. I have come back here, hoping to round up a little support for myself.
