Default Ketones with non-ketogenic diet?

I know you have ketones in your urine if your in ketosis on a ketogenice diet. I know that ketones is biproducts of burning fat, like ashes is to wood.

I am not on a ketogenic diet. I eat 30 carbs a day and 2 days a week(not together), I up my carbs to 100.

Wed. was a carb up day, Thur. was lower carb day. Late Thursday night, I checked my ketones and the stick was purple. I have been excercising, on my carb up day, I strength train and the other days, I do cardio.

This morning, the stick was purple again.

Is it possible that ketones are expelled when loosing fat, no-matter the diet? Or, am I in ketosis even though I'm eating more carbs?

By the way, all weekend, I ate carbs freely.

If you want to see what I've been eating, look into my journal. I started putting it all in on Monday.

All ideas are welcome Thanks

I think it's possible, since people metabolize fat without ever going low carb, your's is still pretty low though, and if you are eating between 30-100grams you are never filling up your easy access storage capacity for glucose (I think I read somewhere that it was about 300-400grams) If you exercise as well you are burning the little carbs you are taking in quickly, and must switch to fat.

That's one of the reasons my trainer said to do weight training before cardio. He said that you'd burn up all your stored glucose on the weights, and during cardio you'd be melting fat.

But who knows? As long as you are going towards your goals, and feeling good.
