Hi I am new to this website. I have been on a low carb diet off and on for about 1 year. I started it not only to lose weight but also because I have hypoglacimia and chronic fatique. It has helped with my illness. When I am on it strickly I can lose the weight fast. I have been going back and forth 10lbs. I do tend to cheat on the weekends. Right now I am trying to control my cheating to not over indulge. I just get in these moods where I want to binge and its with sweets which I know that is normal. Through out the week I do great and I can lose 5lbs in one week. So every Monday I start off new. I am definately open to all experiences and suggestions.

Hi Ashleigh,

I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions - these folks are great! Personally, I have found two things help:

1) get the stuff you shouldn't be eating out of the house. Of course, this only works if you are in control of the kitchen.
2) learn how to make sweet treats with low-carb sweeteners. Don't use them every day, just when you need something extra. A lot of people use Splenda and it is very nice. I use stevia whenever possible.

Have a look in the recipe section of this forum.

Hope this helps.
Kay

Hi Ashleigh.
I'm new to the site as well. I am also diabetic.
Are you controlled by diet or medication? That is great you are controlling you weight, that will really help.
I have such a hard time getting motivated, I think I am tired of all the diets that have not worked.

Default Welcome!!!

That is great that you can stay on track when you want. The weekends are hard, but you can do it... It really only requires to get through about 2 weekends with out going "off" Then you will have more strength for the other weekends..
I had this problem last year when I was on it... I kept getting invited to this place or dinner here or there, and didn't want to be rude so I ate what they ate. (I go to a Baptist Church where Covered Dishes are a common thing!!! ALL CARBS TOO) Those times were the hardest for me... Yet after I stuck through one whole weekend, the next weekend was easier... Now, I tell my friends that I am LCing, so that holds me to it more also... I bring a great LC meal to my Church that I love and can eat (a roast with colliflower and brocili, instead of potatoes and carrots for example) Anyways, just make a firm commitment in your mind that you will stick to it no matter what! It is you that is going to benifit from it the most. At first you may have to plan where your going to eat (if going out) and what you are going to eat there! Same for at home... it helps at first to decide a head of time so you will be ready for all this yummy food.

Anyways, this helped me. I hope it can help you a little too!!!

Being a loser is great!!!
