I just saw a recipe in the regular recipe section for a chicken dip, could be easily made lowcal.

oh, I can't paste when I copy
It was basically tinned chicken, boullion, egg? sour cream.. I dont' know a bunch of stuff topped with cheese and popped into the oven.
I'm thinking, real chicken breasts, quark or something similar, various veggies and spices all thrown into the food processor then popped into the oven. I've done it with roast beef, chicken should work. Eat with the wasa light crackers or celery sticks or sliced cucumbers.

Default hot and sour

I just bought a container (form the local chinese store) of hot and sour paste. It's dark red.. and you only need about 1/2 a teaspoonful for a VERY strong cup of "soup" just mix in with hot water. It has a strong spicy and gingery flavour... how many calories can 1/2 a teaspoon of spices have? It's also excellent as a soup with fish in it. Just drop in a filet of your low fat whitefish. Or chicken breast or whatever. Add shiritaki/konnyaku noodles for more texture.

I think the paste is called Tom Yum or something. Just wanted to add that it's good for colds DH has been sick and I told him to drink it and he startfed drinking it 4x a day, after reluctantly trying it the evening he came down with his cold.... saying it made him feel better. It's so spicy, probaby gets mucus & blood flowing etc.

Isn't Tom Yum a type of Thai soup? I am an enormous fan of Thai food and I plan to make a trip to a Thai market asap and get the ingredients to make Tom Kha Kai soup and probably Panang Curry too!

I am down a pound today, however I am expecting my TOM this coming Monday. I dont think its fair that women have only about 2.5-3 weeks of dieting bc of TOM!! I hate this time because I see my weight jump and although I know the reason, I get very nervous about it. Anyway, wish me good luck!

KC, did you mean to post this to the regular low cal low carb thread? (This is the recipes one). In any case, good going. I can only say from long experience, that daily weight tracking is just an indication and is insufficiently reliable to get emotional about...best to look at weekly and monthly trend, and perhaps pick a time mid cycle to focus on. But the best thing of all is to keep track of your measurements, again mid cycle when TOM isn't bloating you....these will show actual fat loss, where the scales may not. I still think having criterion pants is by far the best indicator...there is no mistaking when the zip goes up easily and the waist band can be closed.

not sure if anyone has posted a recipe for this.. but I had a pretty good sub for honey mustard.

Baked some chicken breast and had them handy in the fridge. For this I sliced cold and dipped, but it could be made into a chicken salad or whatever.

Mixed a tbs of quark with some yellow mustard that had a real bite to it, almost the way horseradish does and added 2 drops of stevia. If I didn't have such a great yellow mustard I'd have to add a little wasabi or something to give it a bit of zip.

Actually, the Mini Tuna Burgers and the Cucumber Water (sounds SO refreshing) are the low cal contenders, but the creativity always impresses me. Have a look!
