Lightbulb I've had enough I'm back on CAD!

I have just spent the last few days trying out the Six Week Body Makeover diet. I'm sure the diet works for some people. I just can't get past the EXTREME hunger and lack of satisfaction from my meals. (No salt, no fat, no dairy and no sugar) Being on this diet is making me grouchy and snippy towards others and myself.

Starting tonight I am going back on CAD. I previously lost over 35 pounds on CAD and I did it without any hunger or grouchiness. No more excuses or trying to find a quick fix to my weight problems.

I'm going back to what works.

Start weight 243

Hey welcome back. I just switched over here from an Atkins type plan. Atkins works, but it's hard to give up so much for so long. I really love this WOE and I hope it continues to work for me - it's so enjoyable!

Hello, Dar and all on this thread!

Dar, your avatar is so cute! I think I'll look for a cuter one.

Ok - so yikes - it's been almost 2 years now. I gave up on CAD/CALP for some inexplicable reason. I just checked my last visit date - 10/20/2006 Started again 10 days ago and am down 1/2 lb.

It really is good to be back. The cravings - GONE! That's such a relief.
This time, I'm letting myself start out a little lax at first as far as trying to be perfectly CALP balanced. It's feels too harsh doing the 1/3-1/3-1/3. I'm not in a hurry, just want some program to STAY in my life. So, it's the less restrictive CAD for me-for now.

Have a great weekend, all!

Hi everyone! Thanks for your welcome backs.

I've been on plan since the writing of my last post. The cravings are much lessened. Everytime I get the urge to cheat I remind myself how miserably hungry I was on the Six Week Body Makeover and the urge completely goes away.

I'm looking for some more CAD recipes to add to my recipe book. Does anyone know where I can find some? Does anyone have a good one they want to share?

Dar

Plan for today:

CM Breakfast; 2 fried eggs, 1 cup asparagus stir fried in butter

RM Lunch; Homemade baked chicken, mashed potatos, stuffing and brussel sprouts. (no salad today)

CM Dinner; Mock Potato Salad.

hi Dar-
Patricia is a great cook and has great recipes. There is a fantastic recipe area on this site. Karen Barnaby, one of the founders, is a fantastic chef in Vancouver.
You can have anything for RM, so you need to just use the recipes for CM. No sugar/flour/rm only foods. It is pretty easy.
If you want specifics- please ask!

Thanks E I'll check out the recipes on site.

Hi Snazzy.

CAD stands for Carbohydrate Addicts Diet and CALP stands for Carbohydrate Addicts Lifespan Program. They are both the same diet but CALP is newer and goes into more detail than CAD.

I'm still on plan but I have to admit I've been craving a little today. I'm going to do some recipe research to find a cm recipe for tonights dinner.

Today's Plan:

B: Turkey meatloaf with cauliflower

L: Salad w/chicken breast meat and ranch dressing;
1 cup of rice noodles and home made tomato sauce w/ turkey meatballs

D: to be announced.

Hi Dar,

Generally speaking if I get hit with some cravings, I add in an extra cm...hit it with protein bullets - it can just be a bit of cheese and a celery stalk, a bit of tuna salad...I think for me it's some decent fat/creamy/rich tasting item that works best (love smoked oysters for example...have a brand that is cm).

Devilled eggs are another "works well" item. I also try to look back over my food logs of the previous 2 days to see what might be triggering me - is it a new salad dressing, a cup of plain tea (some tea blends do set me off, even though I avoid fruit teas), etc.

Best wishes to you,

Thanks Patricia. You reminded me that I used to carry a piece of cheddar cheese with me in case of cravings. I'll have to start doing that again.
I was able to stay on plan without any trouble. Then I remembered that when I made my turkey meatloaf I put in a can of stewed tomatos. I forgot that the tomatos have sugar as one of the ingredients. Thats why they were hanging around in my cabinet.

Yesterday for dinner I fried up some tuna patties, forum recipe, and had some mock potato salad and I was fine.

Today's Menu:

B: Three tuna patties, 1 cup of stir fried asparagus w/ 1 tsp butter.

L: Left over baked chicken breast, stuffing, potatos, gravy and lots of fresh broccoli. oh and 5 peanut butter m&m's.

D: Not sure yet.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi everyone,

Just checking in.

I slipped up last Friday evening but went directly back on plan. My daily weights are gradually going down. I've always lost weight slowly on CAD but it was consistant and painless. My clothes are already beginning to feel loose.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Today's menu so far:

B - Tuna patties and wax beans w/ a small amount of Mozzarella cheese.

L - BBQ Pork, spaghetti squash, some sort of carb.

D - Not sure yet, probably Turkey meatloaf with a salad.

hi Dar-
you are doing fine. Going right back OP is the way to do it-
but you know that! Your menus sound good too-
how are the cravings? Does the protein help?

Hi Eno,

The cravings are gone. I love this woe! I feel so much better. In fact I forgot to eat supper last night.

I saw a new low this morning, 240. I'm feeling a little down today, probably hormones or something.

I'm working on getting some exercise into my week. So far it hasn't happened. I prefer to work out in the morning but lately I haven't been able to drag myself out of bed earlier enough to exercise. I might give it a try tonight after work.

Have a great day everyone!

B: Turkey meatloaf, no veges

L: BBQ pork, cabbage salad, two small baked potatos with butter and chives, one sugar cookie.

D: not sure yet.

Good morning all.

Last night I made a high fat very gooey dinner of hot peppers fried in bacon fat and then stuffed with cream cheese, ground turkey and topped with mozzarella cheese and crushed bacon. Yum. I really needed it. I wasn't really craving but my lunch just wasn't satisfying enough.

Today I am apparently on a fish kick.

B: 1 talapia fillet with seafood spices and fried in a little butter, 1 cup of chopped spinach also fried in a little butter.

L: Seafood salad (imitation crab), 1 everything bagel, 1 cup of chopped spinach w/butter. I also picked up some smoked salmon but it has sugar in it so I may have some with my lunch and save the rest for a weekend rm brunch.

D: Probably Turkey meatloaf. (I'm getting a bit tired of turkey meatloaf)

Last Weeks Average: 242.5
Today's weight, not averaged: 240.5
