Default Volumetrics

I have been doing a lot of research the last few days since deciding to get back on a healthy eating plan. I really like all the support this site offers but know that after multples failed attempts that I can't stick to a true LC plan long term. But I do know that I like a lot of volume and need to stay away from the sugars and refined flours. So, I was thinking about Volumetrics with a semi-lc twist. I mean, a lot of the basis of plans like Atkins are to get your carbs from veggies, which seems to be the basis of Volumetrics in terms of eating more of those to stay full. Anyone had any experience with this type of a plan, meal planning around vegetables and using meats and fats for "sides" and adding in lower GI carbs like brown rice, double fiber bread, whole wheat pastas for example to keep cravings at bay? Just looking for opinions while I am researching a plan to follow.
