I work best when I have a normal daily routine. I wake up. I know what I'm going to do today and I do it. That is true with my exercise, my eating, and my general productivity and work and at home. A little disruption here and there is not a problem. I get back to my routine with relative ease. String days together where I'm off my routine in any area of my life and then it all starts falling apart. That is where I'm at right now. I was doing well just a few weeks ago. But sickness, weather, and a few other bumps in the road have thrown me off kilter. Time to regroup and get back on track... starting now.

What seems to be true for me, Ken, and I imagine is true for you, is that the importance of routine is so ingrained in you now that despite the occasional disruption you will get back on track. I can no longer kid myself that exercise doesn't matter (same is true about how I eat) so when I slack off a bit I begin to feel uncomfortable with myself and I get back to things. I'm sure you will too.

I started some strength training last week .. stationary lunges, squats and rear leg lifts for lower (body weight only); various presses, lifts and extensions using a light resistancve band for upper. Lower body work went well, a little knee pain next day but it gradually subsided. Upper body .. not so good. Shoulders, upper back and neck still screaming 3 days later; apparently I broke the cardinal rules of beginning exercise with fibromyalgia .. no lifts/raises overhead, and no full extensions in any direction. Maybe later when my muscles are stronger, but not when just starting out. Baby steps ... slow baby steps

Weight up ~ 1 lb (thank you meds) .. but .. in anticipation of warmer days to come, I tried on my spring/summer clothes from last year. All of the 16's and XL's are too big .. looks like I need to go shopping for smaller size. What a shame!!
