Default Daily Menu Thread Sunday 11/18

Daily Menu Thread, Sunday 11/18

Great ideas keep showing up on these threads!!! Thanks everyone!

Post your menus here! Enter either what you ate yesterday or what you plan to eat today. Please let's give newbies and oldbies some good "food for thought" and ideas.

HELP THE CAUSE!!!!Don't keep your good ideas to yourself!

Saturday was my birthday outing
so I won't be posting my meals for the day (definitely not low carb). If I post for today I'll be all screwed up so I'll just abstain!

(But hubby did buy me PowerBlocks and I am so psyched!!!)

Hope you enjoyed it.

Curious as to how you are feeling after a no-low-carb day? Not emotional feelings like joy or guilt (we make ourselves feel guilty over too many things) but how you are feeling physically? How did your physical body adjust to a no-low-carb day after being on a low carb regimine?

Thank you for the bd wishes.

There is one word for nolowcarb...yeech. I feel sick. I really only nocarbed it for one meal but it was a doozy of a meal.

I did BFL for a challenge and they have free day and I felt horrible and bloated every morning post free day. I feel the same way today. When I switched to low carb I thought I would miss the free day but I don't miss the hangover.

Today I had softboiled eggs for breaky.

going to ease into lowcarbing today. I'm going to try some of the great things posted on the menu thread this week. I like to experiment on Sunday.

Today:

"Breakfast" at 10.30, a bit of leftover takeaway Chinese combination omelette (egg, chicken, beef, prawn, bean sprouts, onion, picked out the carrots)

Lunch: Chile tuna in lettuce cups (Tried a new one today - Safcol. Much better than the John West, really chunky tuna and 1.5g per 95gram tin) and some macadamias to nibble on afterwards.

Snack later of a chicken wing and a serve of brand name Nisa (A UK brand) mixed pickles - cauliflower, cocktail onion, cucumber. The label lists the carb count at 1.4g per 100grams - that's about what I had. Great pickles, those!

Dinner will be a Thai tofu curry: Fried tofu, red curry paste, coconut milk. (The recipe lists the carb count as 5.5g), rice for Brad, mine served on raw bokchoy and spinach and left to sit a bit to 'cook' the veggies.

Tomorrow's dinner is corned beef, pickled red cabbage and steamed fresh green cabbage with butter! No mashed potato for me.

It's interesting tho. I don't feel I am missing out quite as much when I can still cook things like mashed potato, pasta and rice for Brad to eat. Weird, eh?

Dinner for friends...

Rib eye steaks - baked cauliflower puree covered with grated cheddar, green onions and crumbled bacon - slow roasted broccoli with garlic, anchovies and chilies - mushrooms sauteed in garlic butter - romaine lettuce salad with walnut vinaigrette - chocolate mousse type thing (ice cream like in texture, but not frozen) with whipped cream sprinkled with cocao nibs.

Hi Karen,

The broccoli sounds yummy - how do you make it?

I fried some sliced garlic in olive oil then added 2 chopped dried chilies and 2 chopped anchovy filets. I added large pieces of broccol both tops and peeled stems, either cut in half or 1/4's depending on the width, a bit of salt and tossed them around. Then, I put on a tight fitting lid and threw it in the oven for 20 minutes. I took it out and shook the pot up and down to redistribute the broccoli and baked it covered for 20 minutes more.

I love the way the broccoli comes out almost falling apart tender and infused with flavour. You can do the same thing with cauliflower or green beans.
