Welcome to lowcarb.ca TA!

You may want to start posting a journal in the Journal section of the forum. It helps lots of us stay on track. Re-reading the Atkins book and reading another LC book like Protein Power may also help you to get inspired.

Click through the orange bar at the top of the page. There's tons of information to help and keep you on track as well as reading and posting daily. It works!

Karen

Thanks. My husband and I went on a 1 week vacation at the end of August in Banff. We hiked everyday. I had no wine, 1 slice of bread all week, no desserts, no fruit, no milk, etc. I was really proud of myself.

My ketostix were registering positive results.

When I got home, I had lost NO POUNDS. So, I was really discouraged and went back to eating whatever I wanted.

But I really need to do something.

Default Welcome back..

to low carb, Try. This is a great site for information, advice and most of all suport. Karen's advice to start a Journal is a great one. It will permit us to offer suggestions and help you keep track of what you're eating and how you're feeling.

After seeing your quick reply, I have this to add. Take your measurements. You may not have lost pounds but you've probably lost inches. A measuring tape will more often than not tell a different story from the scales. It helps for those times when you feel discouraged.

Hang in there and have a great Sunday!
Nat

Thumbs up It does work

It does work. I was totally fully comitted to start with then strayed from time to time but I am still losing. Slowly, steadily and it is not coming back on.

It is well worth trying again. Keep a journal. I don't know what your name is but this is the link for A-G. http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?forumid=36

Take care.

Now now, don't give up so soon! One thing that might help is to not think of this as a diet, but rather as a way of life. You're getting healthy and on your way to feeling great! If you focus on that rather than the weight loss, you probably won't be so impatient to see the pounds come off. Lots of us have been on stalls and lack of apparent progress according to the scales. But measurements tell the real story, as do the way your clothes fit. As you're eating more protein, you're rebuilding some muscle that you probably had lost due to the typical past diets of most of us (high carb, moderate fat and very little protein). You're rebuilding your body, reshaping it. Even though you are most likely losing fat...the gain of muscle at the same time will make it look like you're not having any progress, especially if you just rely on a scale.

I understand where you're coming from though, I'm not the most patient person in the world. But just the fact that I'm feeling great and not hungry at all makes it so that the thought of getting off this way of eating does not even occur to me.

So don't give up and please don't hesitate to come here for motivation and advice whenever you feel the need. We all want to see you succeed!
