HI there! I have been lo carbing since the 90's and it always worked well for me. Then I took a job in 200 that had me driving about 3 hrs a day(!) and eating roo much at night. Then I moved, and met a man that I eventually married. He;s great but loves pizza and pasta etc. I also was eating all the donuts and crap at this job because they were just there sitting around. In 2004 I made a real effort (I was going to Hawaii!) I went to the gym every morning, ate a raw salad for much and basically a lean fish or chicken w/veg for dinner. I also switched from beer to wine! I got down to 120 the day of the trip, and it's been an uphill battle ever since. I had my cholesterol checked and it was very hi..but my good cholesterol was hi too. Since then I have gone up and down, but I am 134 as of today and very uncomfortable. So I decided that I am going back to lo carb land, and I will need help, since my husband eats tons of carbs, and won't do this with me!

Great post. You know I feed my DH low carb meals all the time and he just doesn't have a clue. We had pork chops cooked in cabbage tonight and he didn't know. So every so often cook him a potato and he'll never know the difference.

I do that too. Last night we had steak and spinach. But he ate a bunch of tortilla chips right after! It's just hard to have all that stuff around. When I was single I didn't have it in the house! And when his kids are here, it's even worse. When he makes French toast..I leave to go on a walk!!

How do you get that Ticker?

It's working! Now if I could only make it to the gym! We are going out to dinner tonight, and I am going to have sashimi and a little salad. I am a bit afraid to weigh myself tomorrow, because soy sauce tends to make me weigh more due to salt retention. So I may wait until the day after for a weigh in.

OK I was right. I weighed 130.8 this am, but I am hoping that's salt!! I'll know tomorrow. I also have been poking about other places on this site, mostly the Intermittent Fasting group, and find that quite interesting. I have read in many books ( some not lo carb at all) that when the human body does not eat, and have to spend soooo much energy on digestion, that it has the time and energy to repair itself. So I decided that I am going to wean myself into this approach. I actually wake up not hungry at all, so this should not be a problem. I am weaning myself off the tea and 1/2 & 1/2 in the am. I already started to decrease the size of my lunch. I want to aim for a eating window of 7pm - 11pm..and then no food.
