Default heavy exercise days...add carbs?

Ok, I've seen some references to having to add carbs on days when you train heavily. I'm not training or anything, not regularly.

Today the family rented a four-seater bike and rode around Minnehaha Park. Lots of fun, but more exercise than I tend to get all at once. By the end of the day I was a Zombie, weak, light headed. Eating dinner helped.

But next week I'm going to have to go help move hay. Yes, hay. At my Mom's farm. Multiple bales.

So...should I up my carbs on the days when these things happen? What do folks add on for things like this? I don't want to go hog-wild, and I know I won't be touching potatoes now that I've finally broken The Crave. Fruit? Some extra Dairy?

I don't eat any extra carbs when I'm doing a huge work out. You could add some extra veggies of more protien. That would help.

If you've broken the crave, it means your body is using fat for energy. You don't need to up your carbs. Or your protein. All else being equal, you should increase your fat.

I am not understanding how fat will give you energy

I thought carb was the only energy source

Here is an article that supports my thinking

you can build muscle on low carb, you do not automatically loose muscle on low carb, i put on 4lbs of muscle in 4 months (bod pod confirmed)

your body can burn 2 types of fuel sugar and fat, low carb forces the body to switch over into fat burning mode

fat burning has some advantages, you literally never run out of energy all the time you have body fat stored

you will defiantly be weaker on a low carb diet for heavy lifting (well i am anyway) but it does not stop you making gains

it depends what your focus is, if its big weight loss and gaining some muscle low carb all the way, you can switch to focus on building when you hit maintenance and naturally up your carb intake
