Kicked a 23-year, 4-pack a day habit at 8PM on April 23, 1989 and have never looked back!

10 months for me...this time. I'm great at quitting! Three times in the last 4 years. I've used every method, and the best is this one: Allen Carre's book, Easy way to stop Smoking, along with chantix(US), Champix(Canada).
The book really reprograms how you think, it's really amazing how simple this is! The Champix (I'm Canadian) takes away the enjoyment, and you feel you are wasting time.
One time I was quit for 10 years, and started again. That was with the light laser system. It's not a problem quitting for me, it's about the fact that, because I quit easily, I feel I can start whenever I want. NOT!!!

In three days, I'll be eight months quit.... excepting a drunken night I don't remember and don't count.

I, personally, quit cold turkey on a bet. I finished the pack I had and just never bought another. I sometimes wonder how I always had cigarettes, even though I was in the same place I am now financially (BROKE) but now I don't have any money at all and I'm not spending it on my pack a day.

I quit April 7. And only JUST as I was typing that, realized that that is almost 3 months!!!

I messed up last week, and smoked at a wedding on the 24th. But am STILL pretty proud of myself, for NOT smoking, continuing on from that.

Until now, EVERY time I have quit in my LIFE... as soon as I had ONE single cigarette socially, I was back on to a pack and a half a day habit IMMEDIATELY. Like, even when once I had been quit for over a YEAR, already(!),.. and thought I could have "just one".

So I think I will let myself still be a little bit proud,... because smoking one day out of the last almost-three-whole-months... is still GREAT.

And I think I should get out of this All-or-Nothing mindset. Cause I think I use that as an excuse to fail with a lot of things in my life!

Ex- 20 year smoker here. I quit 1 year, 5 months ago. I was able to do it 1.) because I finally, truly wanted to and accepted I would end it. 2.) Because I started vaping instead. I don't vape as much as the beginning but it has been an enormous help. I'm not sure If I'd have made it where it not for the ecig's.

I am 3 months yesterday!!!!! Only a 1 day long "blip" in that time.

I DEFINITELY do NOT feel like I'm out of the woods yet...

but happy so far, for even having achieved this.

I've been smoke-free since Sept. 12, 2003!! I can't count the number of times I had quit before. So, keep quitting! My deciding factor this time with the number of family members who have/are battling cancer. I was literally playing with fire! I stopped a 30 year habit.......you can, too!!

Initially I gave up for 3 years after reading Allen carrs easy way to stop smoking.

Started smoking again for about 3 years.

I gave up again under duress, initially to support my wife's attempts to give up. 3 days later my wife started smoking again, however, I haven't smoked since.

That was 5 years ago.

Don't mean for this to be a downer or pity trip, but I quit smoking the end of '07 after my 38 year old son committed suicide. Five months later, my husband fell, hit his head & died from his injury.

I just figured with my family history of people dying of smoking related cancers, I didn't want to take any more chances after having started smoking when I was 12. I used Chantix & it was great!

The end of June of this year, I was diagnosed with an incurable blood cancer (multiple myeloma). The best I can hope for is remission. Do I think about starting smoking again? Hell no! At least I don't stink! I know it would only take that first cigarette to get me going again.

As I said before, no pity trip. I just wanted to encourage anyone out there who is having a hard time that you can do it! There is never an optimum time to quit & stay quit. There are always circumstances out there just waiting to pounce. Plus, I still feel really good most of the time & not sounding like I'm coughing up a lung!

Wanda
