Default Postprandial glucose reading

Does anyone have any info on postprandial data for
a defined amount of carbs versus time?
Something like:
1. Fast for 8 hours
2. Swallow two 5G glucose tablets(yuk)
3. Glucose readings every 30 minutes for 2 hours
Seems like this would be a reasonable benchmark
for insulin resistance.
Don't particularly want to do a GTT.
BTW,happy holidays to all.
Eddie

There aren't any hard and fast numbers that are applicable to all, Eddie. That's why even the GTT gives a range of normal.
I'm afraid that all consuming 10 grams of glucose will tell you is how far 10 grams of glucose will raise your blood sugar.
As far as testing for IR goes, the only reliable measure is to have your circulating insulin levels drawn.

Eddie,
It is all relevance to insulin, as LisaN stated. As far as GTT goes to determine degree of IR, the only one that trully makes sense is the glucose to insulin ratio: the higher the ratio, the better. I believe it should be >7. Greater numbers indicates less insulin for given blood glucose. Some can pass GTT BG vise but with a very high insulin count, this means higher degree of IR.
I have found this article interesting, it also speaks about some supplements.
