Unhappy Help! I'm so constipated!

I need to know what everyone does to have a normal movement. Ever since starting this diet, I have not been regular. I'm not sure if you guys are aware but being constipated shows physical signs on your body ie. skin breakouts, lack lustre hair, bloating.

Is everybody regular but me??

i was having a problem with it.. bought some flax seed today and ate 2 tbsp, but no movement yet.. hopefully after a day or two of taking it i will start being regular. It seems to help a lot of people.

Might try extra low carb veggies and metamucil. Some of it isn't as bad as the others. Maybe sugar free orange flavored fine powder (vs. the grit) type.

I take a fiber supplement called Fiber Choice. Tastes like baby aspirin and I have no problem chewing them. However, I did not get the sugar-free kind (4g of sugar in the one I got), so if you get that, it may not taste the same.

I think that the constipation is less of a problem as you move into OWL and up the amount of veggies, nuts and fruits you eat. Maybe it's time to up your natural fiber intake by adding more foods since you are rather close to your goal anyways.

Every other night I take "Super Cleanse" from GNC.
It was about $10.00. It works VERY well!

From time to time, after Induction, I eat a few dried prunes or dried apricots to keep things regular (I realise this is a no-no, but too bad, I need it!). I also use Wheat Bran in my Caesar salad (I make extra dressing because it absorbs quite a bit).

Frankly, when I began, the "pellet poos" I endured were torture. I thought I would never go again... and it was so painful when I did (for very little result, IMHO). But, believe it or not, you do get regular again once your body has adjusted. And eating lots of nice fresh veggies helps.

Good luck.

I feel your pain!

Here is my two cents:

1. Reduce the amount of cheese you eat...it causes constipation in some.

2. I drink a "Diet Tea" that help with regularity. I use one with Senna in it. It was actually my facialist that recommended that I start drinking that tea every day to have great skin and it's worked like a charm. They carry some of the "Dieter's Teas" in most grocery stores in the tea section. Be sure to steep in for about 5 minutes the first time. Within the hour....it will be working.

This is one of the not so pleasant side effects for me as well...so you are not alone.

Hope to see you again,
Dana

I have the same problem and take Metamucil capsules - much easier to swallow than the drink. It does get better once your body adjusts.

You're not alone!

Since I'm a baby about taking fiber . . . .but it works . . .

I get konsyl, an all natural no sugar or flavor added psyllium husk product, and make pancakes out of 1 tsp of it mixed in with either 1 (about 2-3 TBL) scoop of keto shake mix or keto blueberry hot cereal, 1/4 tsp baking powder, 1 egg, 1 TBL cream, 1 dash cinnamon, and about 1/4 cup water. I mix it all up with an electric mixer, let it sit about 3-5 minutes, and then use the "batter" like pancake batter with butter or oil in the frying pan. I top it with sugar free log cabin syrup. YUM!

I find I have to have one of these handy pancakes every other day, or I get constipated, too!

Since these have egg, cream, and keto shake or cereal in them, and since you "fry" them, they've got a good "Atkins" balance of fat, protein, and carbs. I figure the net carbs are about 3-5 for the meal, depending on the flavor you use. (Cappucino is good and has .5 net carb for that amount. Blueberry hot cereal mix is also good but has closer to 2 net carb for that amount. Cream is <1 per TBL, and an egg is about 1 carb. Baking powder, for that small an amount is close to 1 carb).

Good luck!
Sue

Eat high fiber veggies! Romaine lettuce, Broccoli and I take 3 Metamucil capsules with breakfast and 3 with lunch and I don't have a problem anymore!

I've had the problem and there are several things that work for me.
1) Atkins bars--peanut butter cups or something like that.
2) Bigger then average salads...up your salad amount if you already have salad.
3) Zero cheese
4) If your still stuck--there is a tea that you can get at the health store called like "smooth moves" or somethin glike that.
If works everytime and it's not like ex-lax where you get cramping and your body relys on it.
Good Luck--and I feel for you--suck a miserable problem!

Here are a few things that help with that (had a problem with it all my life....both really....guess I might have IBS)

take fiber pills (there's plenty of sf kinds out there and they don't taste)

Drink lots of water

eat a few malitol containing sf candies to start you off (two little bars should do the trick....take heed though...they work fast)

aloe vera tablets also help you to go

Hope these help....you may also want to pop in the IBS area as these guys deal with both extremes and will probably have some even better suggestions.
