The article from the Harvard Medical School, titled Rebuilding the Food Pyramid is quite enlightening. Anyway, the reason I'm writing is this. I contacted Atkinsdietalert.org. It's a site devoted to debunking anything Atkins. At the site I couldn't find any research/studies supporting their view so emailed the doctor in charge and asked for such. I finally received an email back today. They referred me to several studies that could be accessed at http://www.ncbi.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi
It's a great site for doing your own research, but the studies they showed were more conjecture than actual statistics. Now, here's the interesting thing. The authors they used to substantiate their theories against Atkins are the very ones who wrote this great article about debunking the current Food Pyramid. If anyone is interested, I can email it to you. It's quite lengthy.
