Hey non smoker, Kellen

Posting here is great. It is a great count down. Also, wait until you have saved a bunch of money on those expensive cigarettes and buy yourself something you normally wouldn't have. You deserve it. Congrats and it only gets better. August 29th was my one year date. I feel like I can call myself a non smoker. I wouldn't want one again for anything.

Congrats!!!! You CAN do this!!!!

Lisa

Congrats to all of you.

I have been smoke free for 32 days and it does get easier. The craving have basical stopped, but every now and again out of habit I want one because of the activity I am engaging in, but that too passes quickly. I smoked for 24 years and went cold turkey, enough was just enough! No one thought I would do it, cause I LOVED my smoke, how stupid is that statement??? But I feel so great now.

All the best to everyone who has quit or thinking about it!!!

Lisa,

That is so great. Over a month so far!!! I know, I remember the cravings would come in "waves" but I would just get busy doing something and they would go away. My dad warned me about the "waves" so I was ready and he was right. He quit after forever in the 80s. i think he started at 13. But you are doing so great. No one thought I could do it either. I quit drinking the same day and my friends said, "you'll be back!!" But I guess after more than a year, they might be wrong. Stick to your guns!! You deserve this!!

Congrats!!

Lisa

YAY to all non smokers. good time to quit with the economy. Buy yourselves something nice with all the money you are saving. I quit last year and could kick myself for not doing it sooner. Wasted 22 years.

Hey Kisal,
How did you figure out how much time extra you get in life? I quit Aug 29, 2007. I would love to have a count down (or up) on that. I know it is supposed to be a certain amount of time but I have seen a couple of different ones. where did you get your info.

Congrats to all of you, it is a hard thing to do and it is possible, even cold turkey. My quit day was Sept 13 2007, I am now just over one year smoke free. Stick to it, you all can do it. I did it cold turkey. Wow, I still can't believe it did it cold turkey, but I did. I can say for sure I smoked for about 27 years and in the last about 10 years over a pack a day. So this is possible. Don't ever give up.....

Way to go Ladylaughs,

We are both in the one year club. We know it can be done just by putting them down physically and mentally.

I joined a site called Quitnet.com (it's free.) I hardly ever post there, but they provide what they call a "gadget" that automatically keeps a record of all your stats. I just go there, open my gadget, and copy the data and paste it in here.

It will be 9 years on January 4th. I made a New Years resolution for New Years Day 2000. I asked my husband not to smoke in the house until I was through the worst of it and he agreed. One evening I was taking a load of laundry into the basement and there he was having a cigarette, he looked like a little boy who got caught doing something naughty. In June of that year we were out fishing and I asked him if he was still smoking and he said no I quit the night you found me having one in the basement. Both of us cold turkey and the best thing we ever did.

Thanks, Kisal!

Here are my stats:

Time Smoke-Free: 17 days, 2 hours, 40 minutes and 2 seconds
Cigarettes NOT smoked: 86
Lifetime Saved: 15 hours
Money Saved: $15.75

Since they allowed for setting the hours, I used 11PM on December 3rd, but my "official" quit date is December 4th.

This thread is a great inspiration to stay focused. Congratulations to all of you!
