Actually We're heading to Florida. We had to really change our plans because our dollar is so bad but I got some good deals.

As for exercise this week, I did none. The smoke is so bad my asthma has flaired up badly and just regular activities are a effort. Air quality today is finally at a 2 but all week it was going into the 7 and 8 range and a few 10's as well.

It was a great week for walking. I did 8 hours 5 minutes this week. Days are getting shorter and I'm running out of time in the evening. Before long, I won't be able to get my hour in each day. But until then, I'm going to take advantage and enjoy the nice weather.

Great job Ellen & Kat. That was one busy week. Sorry about the smokey air, Kelly. You just don't seem to catch a break up there. If it's not freezing, then the bugs or the smoke will get ya. You've done well in spite of that most weeks. Have a good trip to Florida. FYI: My youngest is going to be appling to a college down there as well as a school in the Washington DC area. When she asked if Florida would be OK -- I said, well - I've never been to Florida. By all means, apply.

Enjoy your trip Kelly!
So sorry to hear about the smoke. Ya, just get thru your days as best you can under those circumstances...

Ken! Great job walking. I hear you on the days getting shorter - I started work now and like you, am running out of hours in a day...forces me to be super organized so I can get my exercise in...

Good job, Ellen!

8 hours 30 minutes of walking his week. That was probably my last hurrah for the summer. I took advantage of nice weather this week, knowing that shorter days are really going to eat into my available walking time. I really do need to start doing something indoors. Our neighborhood has a small gym. I need to get a key and start using it. After all, I am paying for it in my quarterly dues.

I hope you are all having a great week.

Made my goal this week:

Mon Aug 31 - Observatory Park walk 45 min
Tue Sept 1 - Sunnybrook Preserve walk 35 min
Wed Sept 2 - 25 min walk in field
Thu Sept 3 - 45 min walk Observatory Park
Fri Sept 4 - 1 hr 45 min walking around the Geauga County Fair
Sat Sept 5 - 45 min walk Sunnybrook Preserve

total: 5 hours

Good going, everyone ~ I started my new job and start a new part time one this week - working really cuts into my exercise time!! I find too, that if I get a late start I am walking faster to avoid being out after dark, even though the parks are open late out here.

Only got an hour in last week and I'm doing the double shift thing again today and tomorrow and then we leave for holidays tomorrow night. I've packed all my workout stuff and I should have good numbers on my pedometer but I may not be able to post them till I'm back. I wonder what the pedometer will read when I'm swimming laps?

Have you checked out the gym yet Ken?I'm glad I have workout equipment at home, we had snow again Saturday morning

I'm not sure that it will. While my vivofit keeps good track of regular walking, it seems to be really fussy about making sure that it is walking (or jogging) that you are doing. It requires several steps before it will register. You know that red bar that shows up and tells you to get up and move after an hour of inactivity? It is supposed to clear after you do get up and move. I spent over an hour in the kitchen yesterday cooking, cleaning, and doing the dishes. That activity didn't clear that red inactivity bar. It also didn't log many steps. I had my phone on me also and it appeared to count a lot more steps while I was in the kitchen working. It looks like the Garmin is very stingy and will only log steps if they are happening in sequence. Still -- at the end of the day, my fitness tracker had 2000+ more steps logged than my phone. I was missing a lot as I could not keep my phone on me every minute of the day.

Made my goal this week - disappointed that I didn't get more exercise in, but started my second job this week - didn't sleep well too many nights, tired out.

Sun Sept 6 - 40 min dancing to Pandora dance station
Thu Sept 10 - 45 min walk Observatory Park
Sat Sept 12 - 1 hr 15 min walk Beartown Lakes Reservation (raining but I took an umbrella)

total 2 hours 20 min

Kat

8 hours 5 minutes walking this week. Rain was a problem on one day, but I made up for it on other days. I do find that my new fitness tracker makes me want to go just a bit more than I otherwise would. I just want those extra steps.

I made my goal this week - again, not enough exercise...but better than none. I need to try and push myself to do something for at least 30 min on the 4 days I don't work both jobs...

Fri Sept 18 - 15 min walk (I) Maple Hill Cemetery
55 min walk (II) The Rookery Park/Interurban Trail
Sat Sept 19 - 55 min walk Frohring Meadows Park

total: 2 hrs and 35 min
