BBQ sauce, catsup, salad dressings, they are all still loading in the HFCS. The cereal companies and yogurt brands have begun to back off of it. When I first was on the fructose free diet, it was a lot worse than it is now.
Some fruits and vegetables have a lot of fructose too: tomatoes, apples, bananas, squash both summer and winter, and fruit juices.
Oh and of course most of the soda pop. Watch out for McDonalds McCafe drinks, I haven't checked lately, but I once had one of those drinks and boy did it set off my gut. I called McDonalds corporate customer service and made them read me all of the ingredients. First they told me just some kind of flavor mix, and then I made them give me all of the ingredients and there it was HFCS.
Corn syrup and hfcs are major industries in my state. I am surrounded by corn fields. A train comes through here every day taking corn syrup from Clinton, Iowa to Eddyville, Ia where there is a Cargill plant.
My doctor told me at the time that hfcs is the primary cause of obesity in this country. I don't know if that is completely true, but I have become very aware that if you have some carbs it makes you crave more. And that is doubly true of corn syrup.
Okay, I am coming down off of my soap box. But, that is a subject near and dear to my heart. Before I had that diagnosis, I thought maybe I would never be able to leave the house again.
