So how much dairy would one consider to be enough to cause a problem? I have maybe 1/4 cup of heavy cream per day (sometimes a splash more, sometimes less). I have cheese, but only a couple times a week. Today I haven't had any dairy at all.

Is this enough to cause a problem? Like, if I dropped it out altogether, I might lose more (which, in my case, would be ANYTHING!)?

I dunno. The nutjob claims you will expel a gallon of mucous during the detox. He claims your intestines are coated with it and thus will have trouble absorbing nutrients.

He also claims dairy is high in pregnant cow hormones (estrogen among others.) I suppose if that were true estrogen certainly would keep one from losing weight.

I'll let you know if my no-dairy experiment gives me super weight loss powers.

So does anyone who's doing well on nearly no carb have any Native American or islander heritage of some sort? I read something interesting in some writing linked from this thread. It pointed out how much meat and fat many Native American tribes relied on, and if you have that heritage you're a lot closer to hunter-gatherer in terms of minimal generations having elapsed, than Europeans and many others.

In other words, Europeans (well, some of them) adapted to carbs over hundreds of years - no doubt weeding out some of those who couldn't tolerate them early on in the agrarian setting. That would just be happening now, more or less, to Native Americans.

Hello all,

I am familiar with theBear and have read through the threads about the all-meat WOE. I feel that I am on to something very good by following the "zero-carb" path. However, I am wondering if anyone can provide insight into my recent health after adopting this WOE (three weeks VLC; some zero-carb during this time)...

I should preface this by saying that I was I vegetarian for 2.5 years before eating substantial amounts of meat (starting 6 months ago).

So here's what's been happening: first gall bladder/liver pain after eating, and now chest pain. It feels like a digestive problem (theBear alleviated my concern that it may be angina). Anybody else experience this problem? It's quite persistent.

Any advice from former vegetarians?

I'd also like to add that I am doing this purely for health, as I am not overweight and never have been. Thank you, guys!

how do you prepare your meat?
Just wondering if perhaps it's not as easily digested as it might be by being cooked through or well done, as opposed to eating it rare. Did you have these pains soon after introducing meat to your diet or? How long has your diet been high in fat and what is the severity of the pain?

I'm just curious, if some organs are now needing to work hard after not needing to maybe they're experiencing "sore muscles"

Maybe you could try taking some digestive enzyme tablets with your meat? Just a thought.

Certainly take in as much water as you can stand to.

yeah like Hcl tabs or something..
not water WITH the meat though.. right? Wouldn't that dilute the gastric juices, if weak gastric juice is indeed his problem?

Yeah. Not while eating, but throughout the day.

Dan,

You know, I've heard that somewhere before: the idea that one should not drink while eating. What's the scoop on that? I know from my experience that I can pack away more solid food when I save my eater for later. Thoughts?

Kevin

Um... substitute "eater" in the third sentence with water. My "eater" (actually a typo) is ostensibly what I use to pack away more solid food in the first place!
