Yep, I was sawing logs pretty early yesterday evening. Our best fan is in our bedroom, so that was the most comfortable room in the house - I guess today will be a repeat of that.

Dang, ladies.

I got a call 11-ish about a job starting tomorrow -- I've been waiting for confirmation but it hasn't arrived yet, so here's the heads up for this weird and wacky week.

I'll be on the other side of town with only 1 hour for lunch, precisely, at a new jobsite.

So I think it would be wise of me to, reluctantly, bow out of our lunch tomorrow.

Sigh.

Jude - first of all, congrats on the job! And yes, you don't want to risk an over-long lunch on your first day on a new job!! You do realize that we need some details here - full-time? permanent? cooking (I hope!)?

Julie, let's try for a time when more of us can come! Maybe early August will work better for all of us and it's sure better when we can all come!! That'll also give us a little more time to check around for inexpensive options. Heck, if Jude's working full-time as a cook, maybe we can descend on her and demand lo-carb concessions!!!!

In the meantime, hope you had (and are having) a happy birthday - I'll be discreet and not ask which one. We have a small "do", family and very close friends, on the weekend to celebrate our 50th, so it's a full weekend here too.

Well, I'm certainly glad I can't say I'm twice as old as you! I HATE THAT!!!! Anyhow, you might feel as if you're getting "long in the tooth" but to me, you're still a kid! Sheesh - you're younger than both of my kids, and yeah, I wonder too, "HOW DID I GET THIS OLD?" The short answer is, I didn't, the WORLD did!!!

I guess it's time for a new thread - "late July / early August lunch". Between summer vacations (what's that?) and visiting family (we live in a vacation area - we gotta expect that!), it gets difficult to plan our own lives for the duration! Not fair, but as long as we live in a "vacation destination" I guess we're stuck with it!!
