I'd like to search on flax seed or other phrases, but using and gives me posts with both the words in them, not the phrase. I've tried enclosing in single quotes, double quotes, parentheses, and brackets with no luck.

Hello Dee,

Try using "advanced mode" and then clicking on "show results as posts" rather than threads.

It also helps to confine your search to a particular forum, eg Kitchen.

It is pretty annoying to be shut off when you are trying to find something and either type the search word wrong, or get to a place you know isn't where you want to end up.

I wish I had found this thread sooner! I had all but given up on the search function because my intuitive method was not getting me anywhere. I did a search on "exercise" ... now I can go find what I really wanted to know!

well i have spent a lot of time looking at different pages on the site and i can not come up with that "search" icon on the top right hand corner. it said in questions and answers that it is on "most" pages. can someone direct me to one where i can find it. sure sounds like a good search tool. thank you again for any help: gerry

The format of the board has changed a little since that was written. You can now find "Search" about halfway along the green menu bar across the top of the posts.
