Are you seeing a gastroenterologist? That would be where to start. If you can find one who specializes in liver disease, that would be the best.

I finally got to see one in July and that was one of the only times in the last 2 years that all my enzymes normalized. Murphy's law! He did look at all my tests and reports and tested me for all liver-related auto-immune diseases and conditions and I was normal for all.

I might go to a hepatologist but will have to pay as I'm a Canadian in the US right now.

Tylenol? Alcohol? A number of supplements can do the deed too. Hope you figure it out! Have you tried any of the supplements to heal the liver?

I don't take Tylenol, but do take very limited Ibuprophen.

I do drink wine but have had long periods off of wine, to follow a low carb diet, and both of those times are the times they elevated. The first time I had had maybe 3 glasses of wine in 4 months.

I am not nearly as big a drinker as most people I know ~ more like a glass or two not every day and sometimes not for weeks. I have just stopped all supplements again. The specialist told me never to take any.

I took SAT by Thorne for liver last time and it helped, the Gastro told me not to, but he's rather narrow minded, and said they are all bad for the liver.

I feel like I need a drink now more than ever as it's so depressing!!!

Have you looked into Silymarin? Even House recommended it. :-)

I had elevated liver enzymes from leaning against a wall on a hot day that had recently been sprayed with a common pesticide. In my case it made my total cholesterol fall dramatically from 170 to 99.

Good news, I repeated the tests yesterday and they are coming way down, ALT is only 49, AST is normal, and ALK. Phos. is still a bit high but not even double!

Happy dance!

Great news, though no answer if it was a virus that comes and goes, or those supplements you stopped taking. But not the low carb diet.

Yeah. It's good, but still frustrating not to know WHY, isn't it?
