I take the head, and depending on what the outside leaves look like, I will take the 1 outside leaves off. turn it on its side and cut about a half of an inch off the bottom where the stem is. Then I turn it bottom side down on my cutting board and cut it right in half. That half I then cut right down the middle again, then I turn one of the pieces back bottom down and trim the rest of the core out that I see, and then cut that piece in half sideways... does that make sense? the next time I do it I can take pics

If you imagine the cabbage is an orange and CS is splitting it into 8 segments maybe that will make sense visually?

That sounds sooo good!
Here's something I've done that sounds pretty similar tasting.
I cut up about 3/4 of a pack of bacon and cook it, usually take a little grease off, but leave a lot of it.
Add about 3/4 package of coleslaw mix in a bag.
Stir occasionally. Takes about 15-20 minutes to stir fry it all together. Reminds me of chinese chop suey or something... with bacon flavor. delish!

I think I'll try the other method when the weather cools down and I can turn on the oven again. it sounds good too!

Jody.. Sounds like a stirfry I do.. I take broccoli salad and sautee that with some chopped steak in a little olive oil and soy sauce soooo good! I will also chop cabbage and sautee til right at brown in olive oil, reminds me of Chinese food too.

I have found that veggie carbs don't bother me.. No matter how high, just like I can steam a whole huge artichoke and eat the while thing dipped in butter and it won't bother me.. There are a lot of carbs in that too.

And I am also in pre-maintenance but even in the beginning veggie carbs never bothered me as long as my ratios were good

thanks for the great idea

Try this papuchazo....

Cut the head of cabbage in half top to bottom.

You now have 2 peices

cut each of those in half

now you have 4 peices

cut each of those 4 peices in half again.

Now you have 8 wedges.

Cabbage is ok for induction.. 1/2 cup has 2 net carbs 1/8 head has right at about 9 carbs, minus 3g fiber... so 6 carbs

You probably could. I sometimes make cabbage, bacon and chicken in my crockpot. After reading this thread I might just wrap it all in foil and bake it in the oven.

In Britain it's fried in a pan with bacon or sausage and potatoes for breake and it's called 'bubble 'n squeak' I used to make it often sans the potato and add garlic cloves or onion. Cabbage does tend to make me break wind though

You can substitute boiled radishes for the potatoes.

Well! all this talk about cabbage, I stopped on the way home yesterday and picked one up. I'm on hcg though, so NO bacon here, just put it in a saute pan with water ..some mrs dash and pepper --it was so good. I still enjoyed it.
