Please correct me if I'm wrong. Its been known to occur.

Cholesterol is used to repair tissues, organs, and cells.
High Density Lipoprotiens transport the cholesterol to the site of inflamation, and Low Density Lipoprotiens collect unused / excess cholesterol and transport it back to the liver.

Also, recent research has totally debunked the notion that cholesterol levels are the evil culprit for heart disease .. its more the lipoprotien size, as opposed to its density.

So ... I don't think that lowering inflamation is what its all about. Inflamation is good - running .. impact sports .. they cause huge amounts of inflamation in the body .. and cholesterol and triglycerides are two of the first things used in repairing this damage. The body is designed to be active!

You are right. Triglycerides (that results from eating carbs) and small particle LDL are the bad things.

Once a couple of centarians had been researched to find what factors determine longevity. The only factors all of them shared was low bloodsuger and low triglycerides. Now where does that come from?

Some experts suspect that insulin is the key to high age. Animals that are experiencing food shortage tend to postpone reproduction. The net effect of that is that they increase their years. There is no a priori reason to assume the same effect couldn't be experienced by mankind. Keeping low your insulin (which is really the same thing as keeping triglycerides low) may lead to life extension. Interesting stuff!
