I wonder though what the cut off is to list as zero. Because the date base has changed the amount of coffee as well as the number of carbs.
100 grams of water is about 4 oz not the eight listed previously which would lower the gram count to .49 and I wounder if less than .5 equals zero the same way the FDA allow <1.0 to equal zero?

Now if I just had zero carb cream to go in it! I simply can't rink coffee without cream, and sweet stuff. The no carb sweet isn't such a problem thankfully.

NancyLC: so that's why I don't get coffee twinges anymore. I've habituated (ironically I started drinking coffee when I started atkins!).

I just looked at the book, it's by Willet and is "eat, drink, and be healthy". Hey, I was pretty close. It really is a good book. After some of the loser books I have gotten, like this supposedly low carb cook book that thought 40 grams of carbs for dinner was low!, I have started to count on the faq page at mainecottagefoods.com to get some new ideas. So far they have been right on. The food politics is too heavy for me, but the others (they change sometimes) have been good. On the other hand, I click on the book, get it, open it and don't look at the title. Doh!

I agree with fracture. It is maya case of being below 0.5g per serving allows them to state 0g carbs.

Hi,
I count 0.8g for 10oz of coffee. The less than 0.5=0 is a fun with numbers exercise; note my cream now says 1gC as they are rounding up. I still count 0.6g C for 18% cream.

The biggest damage coffee does is with your intestinal flora. One cup kills a lot and it takes 1/2 hour for your stomach to re-create it.

I felt a lot better when I was off coffee and drinking green tea. Ran out of green tea, but cupboard is full of coffee.

Guess I will have to wait until I get Candidiasis again to go back to tea.

Tom.

Must admit I still get the giant coffee at 7-11 each morning but it is decaf. and I use one sweet n low. I just dont like the taste of the splenda packets and didnt care for stevia either.

Good news is that I am down from my usual two pots a day while at work. Really!

My question exactly. I had .8g carbs per 6 oz. listed in my Palm pilot, and there's nothing more I'd like than to shave off 1.6g every day from my tall decaf with sugar-free hazelnut shot Starbucks. But I wonder. Does the coffee now have no calories? I always have had it listed as 4 calories, with the additional calories other than the carb content coming from a small bit of protein. If the coffee still has calories, where are they coming from. And then thirdly, why is the USDA changing their calculations -- did they make a mistake first time around?

Thanks for your detective work!

Great news!!!!! I was really watching my coffee intake, but it's nice to know I can have that extra cup when I really want it. Now, if they could only get the carb out of Splenda. lol

Jana,
Liquid Splenda has no carbs! Such as Davinci or Torani Sugar Free syrups.
