Hi all !!! We're back from our vacation. Had a wonderful time. I had planned on checking in here every couple of days while I was gone, but my laptop died on the trip, so I had to wait until we got back. (Please cross your fingers for me that I can get it fixed - I have a lot of stuff on there that's irreplaceable DH is a computer genius and he says it's no big deal, but I'm gonna be nervous until I get it back)

Anyway, staying on plan (or close to it) in Puerto Rico was pretty easy. The breakfast buffet at our hotel had a made-to-order omelette station, so that made it easy there. We skipped lunch, did a LOT of walking, and ate at nice restaurants for dinner (easy to get fish and veggies), so even with a few cocktails here and there, I felt like I did pretty well over all. In Florida, not so much. We stayed at the Nickolodeon Suites, and spent most of our time in Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, DisneyQuest - you know, the land of kid food. I tried, but it was hard to find anything suitable to eat without making two separate stops for each meal, etc. The good news is, I didn't do too much damage. I'm only 2 lbs up from last week's weigh in, which is actually not bad at all considering that it's also that time of the month and that usually makes me retain about 6 lbs of water.

So...back to reality, and back on track without missing a beat.

How is everyone else doing???

Hey Donna!
Good to have you back! Sounds like you had a great time on vacay and 3 lbs isn't bad AT ALL.
Vacays are great fun but its always nice to come back home.

Doin great here, trying out new work-outs and feeling sore WHICH IS GREAT! I haven't felt my muscles in the longest time!

Good luck on your mini-goals on the other thread!

I stepped on the scale this morning, as I do every morning these days, and I am happy to report that the 2 lbs I gained on vacation are GONE - and they took a friend with them. I had a feeling it was just water weight - and since it was so quick and easy to get rid of it, I guess I was right.

I'm feeling very motivated to continue on this journey, now that I know that even a 9-day vacation can't mess me up!!

Good job DonnaLiz!!
Yes, it was water weight and the additonal friend was most probably fat.

Below is from today's SBD Daily Dish and really is good!!

4 Foolproof Ways to Stop Stress Eating
It's common to respond to stress by distracting yourself with your favorite comfort foods. But now that you're following the South Beach Diet lifestyle, you know that turning to common comfort foods (processed chips, white potatoes, sugary sweets, and so on) may cause swings in your blood-sugar levels that can lead to cravings and weight gain. Here are some healthier ways to cope:
1. Stick with the program. If you follow the guidelines set forth by the South Beach Diet, you'll be less likely to have cravings and, as a result, you'll be less likely to turn to food when you face stress. Plus, snacks are encouraged on the plan, so you won't feel deprived.
2. Keep your hands busy. Find something else to do with your hands besides eat. Keep the daily crossword nearby, knock off some chores, or distract yourself by calling friends or family. (But don't use the kitchen phone!)
3. Be ready for stress-induced snack attacks. It's worth repeating that snacks are encouraged on the South Beach Diet, so keep the right foods on hand. Make sure you've got a supply of crunchy vegetables like celery sticks, green and red pepper strips, cauliflower buds, and broccoli florets — you can even cut them up and stash them in resealable bags in your veggie drawer. Feel the urge to dip? Try hummus or eggplant dip, or a bit of spreadable low-fat cheese (six grams of fat or less per ounce). Also, stock your cupboards and desk drawers with nonperishable South Beach Diet–friendly items like nuts; high-fiber, whole-grain crackers and cereals; dried apricots; and even cans or pouches of water-packed tuna.
4. Work out. Not only is exercise a great way to stay fit and manage your weight, it's also a fantastic stress reliever. If going to the gym isn't your thing, clear your mind with a brisk walk around the neighborhood. You can also check out the South Beach Supercharged Fitness Program, which offers an interactive exercise plan that you can do from the comfort of your own home. Try it today by clicking on the Fitness Program link in the top-level horizontal toolbar — the first week is on us!

OMG I cannot believe this. I am down another pound this morning - that's a 5-pound loss this week. My mini-goal was to lose 2 lbs this week (the 2 I had temporarily gained on vacation), and to lose another 3 by the end of October. Somehow I met both of those goals in one week!!!

Guess I need to set some new ones now.

You all don't know how excited I am that this is working (well, maybe you do ) It has been SO LONG since I've had this kind of success with a weight loss plan. Now I'm kicking myself for not trying the LC way sooner!!!

I lost over a pound this weekend alone! I am very grateful for that after a week of ups and downs, most days being stuck at 188.8.
Heres to continued success!
