Cool Decent Ketchup?

I paid $5 for a bottle of Walden Farms ketchup and it's awful. Really bad. I want to make some cocktail sauce by adding some horseradish.

Does anyone know a decent ketchup out there that's low carb?

Heinz One carb ketchup is wonderful. It has green on the label (like the oganic one does) and says 1 carb on it. And its not nearly as expensive as the Walden Farms brand

Actually, mine is Heinz organic (green label) because I can't get the low carb version.
And it's terrific!

If you can't get the Heinz 1 carb (there's nothing better) there are a few decent ketchup recipes floating around. LindaSue has a couple.

Not sure which area you are in, but "Presidents choice Blue Label" Ketchup is just as good if not better than heinz 1 carb. It is not labeled as being low carb specifically, rather just sugar free.

I am with Luke on this one, I love the president Choice sugar free ketchup. I mix it with mayo for dipping meatballs and putting on burgers/cooked meat.

Another vote for the Heinz One Carb. That stuff is amazing. I have 9 bottles stored in my cabinet....I'm a ketchup lover!

It is only available in canada as far as I am aware. It is sold in in grocery stores owned by "Westfair foods". Loblaws, Great Canadian Superstore's, and Extra Foods are their main chains to my knowledge.
Sorry for the slow response, my internet has been down.

"Presidents Choice" may be sugar free, but it has 4 grams of fructose so its not a free food. I make my own sauces for pizza etc. from tomato paste and tomato sauce and they do have some natural carbs-- I don't add any sweeteners.

Sorry mike that isnt the right one.

It specifically must be the "Blue Label" Ketchup. Which is only sweetened with sucralose. Their regular ketchup has been made for several years but the blue label is quite recent.

Here is the link to the right product.

Not only isn't that the right ketchup (it's not Blue Label), it doesn't even have fructose in it, it has the dreaded glucose-fructose syrup, very bad for you, definitely a sugar (and clearly designated as such on the label) and loved by the manufacturers for its cheapness.

Quote:
Ingredients: Tomato paste, glucose-fructose, white vinegar, water, salt, spice.

Ouch.

This Canadian product is what's available to us, in response to the demand for the Heinz 1-Carb, which despite being actually manufactured in Canada, is simply not sold here by Heinz, only in (parts of) the States.

Go figure.

I expect that SOME day, Heinz will sell here. I hope the PC brand has the market share by then, or they'll just get run over just like all the other "smaller" developers and end up cancelling the product line...

Sheesh.

Rant over.

I am just hoping that heinz doesnt discontinue its 1 carb. I know that anything with the word carb on it is now taboo. That stuff is just amazing. I dont know what I would do without it. I kid you not, the hardest part of low carbing for me was no ketchup! When heinz came out with the one carb I was so happy. I buy it by the dozen. I guess I use a lot of ketchup. I eat it with my eggs every morning, I bring it with me to restaurants when I get burgers, I dip my roasted chicken in it, I dip my homemade chicken nuggets or tenders in it, I use it to make my own BBQ sauce. I would lose my mind without it.

Safeway stopped carrying it. In fact ever since they teamed up with Orinish they stopped carrying almost everything low carb except for the carb smart ice cream and dreamfields and they did cut back on the ice cream and dreamfields.

Now I drive 10 miles to a store I found that sells it. Its not that bad since its right next to the place I get my cat food from. I was there today and they only had one bottle and told me that it was a hard to find item. I let them know in no uncertain terms how much I need it lol.

I also placed a netrition order for a few bottles just in case lol.
