Unhappy Sick, not feeling like eating too Low Carby

Well, it finally happened, here I am with a 101.5-102 fever, a REALLY sore throat, body aches, muscle aches, joint aches, headaches, and just generally feeling lousy. All I want to do is curl up with a big old glass of Orange Juice, and eat ice cream for my sore throat (not at the same time though, ugh) I don't feel like cooking or getting up or anything, so I will wait until my hubby gets home to take care of me. He's great! But I am whining cause the glands on the side of my throat are so swollen it hurts to turn my head, and I would rather spit than swallow anything right now my throat hurts so much (now didn't that sound off colored? )

Anyway, I have a feeling I am going to lose weight from NOT eating, or go off ketosis because I am going to eat the regular things you do when one is sick, like juice, soup, and other soft sweet comfort foods. I will hold out as long as I can, but it is going to be hard to want to eat a steak with this thraot like it is

Gargle with really warm salt water (not hot enough to scald). 8oz glass, with 1-2 tsp of salt for the sore throat. DO NOT swallow this stuff as you will REALLY get a tummy ache.

Drink some chicken or beef broth.

Hope you feel better soon.

*hands you a teddy bear and blankie*

There ya go...but I'm not Raz

You are correct...it is nasty tasting however it does work. My mom use to make me do that when I got a sore throat. Almost makes you gag but you can't tell someone that BEFORE they try it.

Do it about once an hour....I bet by morning the sore throat is gone. Normally mine was fixed on the 3rd round.

get some rest

Thanks for the Teddybear and blankie

Default oh!

And on a different note, I wonder if there is any info on how many calories you burn while you're sick/running a fever? You have to burn more somehow, I would think, but I can't find any info on it. Anyone have any ideas????

Red throat with white spots? Fatigue and weakness? Myalgias?Sore stiff neck due to swollen glands? Sounds like mononucleosis to me. Get thee to the doctor .. .

Read more information about mono here.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Re burning more calories when you're sick: I know it takes a lot of energy to cool your body down (sweating and blood vessel dilation), so you're probably burning a few extra calories. However, if you're stuck in bed, it probably balances itself out. On fitday.com, there's no "lying in bed sick with high fever" on the activity calorie chart.

(Sizzle):"I think they SHOULD add that category lol!"

I agree: they already have " Maple syruping/sugar bushing", "Sexual activity, Active, vigorous effort" and "Sitting on toilet" ! (I'm not joking; they're really there!)

Try this instead of a milkshake. a cup filled with ice
heavy whipping cream and a sugar free syrup. (DaVinci is mentioned a lot in this forum. There are other brands) Vanilla is great but so is orange and cherry. For a 16 oz glass we use about 3oz syrup and fill the cup with cream. Blend in your blender. It comes out smooth and creamy. A real treat. and you stay LCing
Hope you feel better
