I now there are lots of Canadian here so thought I would ask..
Anyone in BC know if there is ANY way to get BC Medical to pay for extra skin/cosmetic surgery? I am struggling here. I see it sagging all over me. I did exercise before but it never got rid of it all and now it seems there is more(after having baby) and it's not just tummy it is allll over.
I lost like 90lbs low carbing but over the last 3.5 years I have lost a total of 130 lbs(highest in Jan 2009 was 275)
Is there anyway BC medical pays for this after weightloss?
If you suffer from rashes, chafing, etc.,under the folds of the skin, your doctor may be able to recommend to BC med, that you undergo the surgery. However,I know someone that had it done and Medical only paid for the lower stomach. She paid for arms and legs on her own and found the recovery from those two much worse and longer than the tummy tuck!
I don't think they will Candice. At your age, you still have hope that eventually the natural elasticity of your skin will look after most of it, especially with exercise to help fill in with muscle. At my age, I'm stuck with it, but at my age I shouldn't be vain enough to care anyway! Hah!! I don't think we ever out-grow the desire to look as good as we can.
Thanks Glenda. I feel SO saggy all over. But I just don't have time atm to worry over it. I am sure when I have more free time I will obsess and TRY to do something lol but for now.. 100lb weight loss + 2 babies = tummy skin SAGGGGGY ontop of already arms and legs.
You can get them to pay for it if you can prove that it is causing, pain, discomfort or mental anguish. Just depends on how far you are willing to go to do that.
Medical in BC was going to pay for me to have breast implants at one point. (mental anguish). The Plastic surgeon put in the application and it was approved. I ultimately decided not to go through with it. But they were gonna pay for it.
