Question new to forum

Hi, I started the SBD back in August and did great on Phase 1 and lost 14 lbs in just 2 weeks.. then when I started Phase 2 I just kinda lost all motivation. I've been bouncing back & forth on Phase 1 during the week but the weekends are a killer. I'm only 28 so I go out a lot and have drinks with my friends and that's the downfall of the SBD.... no alcohol for the first 2 weeks then only wine.

Can any one give me any suggestions or motivation!?! I know I can do it.. I did it before... I just feel that there has to be *someone* else out there that understands the whole "no drinking" thing? =/

Welcome!!
Drinking is not the downfall with only SBD...its the downfall of many who are trying to lose weight and be healthy. If you can drink in moderation ( 1 or 2 and thats it!)...then it should not be an issue.

Most of us have a few and lose all sense of boundaries around food....that is a big problem!! When I go out I order a glass of white wine and a glass of club soda with lemon or lime and make my own spritzers....they last longer and I don't get too drunk.

that's a really great idea!!! I had been drinking gin & tonics instead of beer but I almost had a heart attack when I got the tab at the end of the night.

one gin & tonic = $8
one beer = $2

Judy's suggestion for the drinking is good.

soda water w/ lemon or lime between two small glasses of wine. You'll enjoy the night much more w/ just a little alcohol in your system & still keep your hand/mouth busy. Also, soda water has a bitter taste that can trick you into thinking that you're drinking some kind of hard liquor drink (or at least it used to work for me, when I was your age).

Lost thought ~

Hi, I'm new to SB, too and right there with ya on the no alcohol rule. Lucky for me, I really like red wine and look forward to adding it back.

Skip the G&Ts! There is quite a bit of sugar in tonic water (although you can buy sugar free at the store, bars don't use it) -- 24 carbs in 8 oz. for the regular kind! Carb-wise, you'd be better off with a rum & Diet Coke or even a martini.

I agree with the others... Moderation is the key -- it has to be a diet we can live with. Good luck!
