Default Atkins Savvy Doctor in Sydney???

Hi all
I need to get some blood work done because I've had outrageously high cholesterol in the past (low fat high carb diet for years). I was hoping that someone might be able to recommend a doctor who is well versed in Atkins. I'm on my last three days of induction and thought I might want to get my cholesterol levels checked out.

Hi Mos,

While I can't help you with an Atkins savvy Sydney doctor, I can make a couple of suggestions.

First of all, you can ask any doctor for blood tests. Just make sure they order HDL, LDL and triglycerides.
However, it is much too soon to expect changes from your new eating plan. It takes about 3 months for changes in cholesterol to happen.

Have you had any tests before you started? As Dr Atkins suggested, it is a very good idea to have a range of tests at the beginning of the plan. These tests should include kidney function, as well as cholesterol. Always good to have some baseline numbers.

Cheers.

Rosebud
