Hello all, as you know I was impressed with the Lite on Carbs store in London. I received an E-mail from Caroline about her new support group and she asked if I would like to let the forum know about it. As there was a COST involved I aske for further explanation and here it is...if I was closer i think it would be great so I am passing it alomg...I live too far away


Hi Marg - I guess the closest thing I could describe it to, would BE a WW
meeting, except that weigh in would be optional, and everything is geared
towards living a healthy low carb WOL. Lots of hand out material, including
a meal plan and weekly new literature including researched articles
regarding diabetes, benefits of omega/ high fiber, saturated fat, exercise
etc. Our costs vary from renting the hall - we've booked a room for 80
people, to samples, to the researchers (of our articles) and guest speakers
(I have a chef lined up for the 3rd or 4th meeting who specializes in low
carb cooking to demonstrate some low carb baking using ingredients that are
somewhat foreign to many people - alternative sweeteners etc.) to give
aways. Yes, Atkins is free, that's the beauty of it. Anyone can read the
book, or read the online web pages. Those that have read the book
thoroughly, and have the where-with-all to do it on their own properly,
don't really need us. Many people are doing it inaccurately, either because
they really haven't researched what they are doing, or they got their
information from a friend of a friend who was doing that "no-carb diet
thing...". We simply wish to be a source of solid, accurate information and
support for those that need it.

Hi Marg,

Just a quick note to say hi and mention that we will be beginning a Lite on
Carbs - weekly low carb lifestyle support group meeting. Beginning Wed. Sept
22nd at the Masonville public library (most likely at 7:30pm) Fees will be
$10 per week or $35 per month. I really appreciated the kind words that you
wrote to the support list that you belong to and didn't know whether this
would be something that your friends may want to know about? There will be a
meal plan leaning towards Atkins WOL with options for those following a
lower fat, higher good carb plan such as South Beach. We'll have samples,
give aways and hopefully a great time with people that understand our WOL or
those new to it!

Mac nut oil should be in by the middle of next week. If you or anyone would
like some please call the store so that I can reserve it, I have already
sold 1/2 of the shipment.
