Default lower back pain

ok i saw this posted in another thread and it reminded me that I experienced the same thing..

"When I first did the induction my lower back really hurt for a few days then went away. I fell off the wagon one time (just once in 8 weeks! and I learned from it) and had the same experience when I went back onto induction. I assume this is my kidneys going through some kind of carb-starve shock or something.."

any thoughts on this?

It is gone now.. i wasnt sure if it was muscle ouchies from biking or something inside (it didnt feel like either to be honest) so I didnt go to the Doc.. But I was really concerned about it.. if you have any links id appreciate it also.. that way if this is something i shouldnt be concerned about but see another LCer experiencing, i can reassure them as well

thank you!!

i get this occasionally as well. with me, the pain is at each side of my lower back and i sometimes get it on my early morning walk. i thought it was i low blood sugar thing but i wonder if it has anything to do with dehydration.just a thought.

Low back pain is unlikely to be associated with the kidneys. They're located higher up, above the waist .. kidney pain typically radiates out to the sides, the so-called flank region.

Carbs (and ketones for that matter) don't have any effect on the kidneys EXCEPT ... chronically high levels of sugar in the blood will cause damage. Glucose molecules are large and can damage the kidneys' filtering cells as they push through.

The only diet-related thing I can think of that might trigger low back pain is constipation or gas or something intestinal.

to peapod,
its not something i worry about as it doesn,t happen very often, just an ache now and again.maybe for me i,m just getting older or it might be the fact that i am carrying my 1 year old grandaughter around all week.
i think i,ll go with the non specific pain on doreens list.

christine.

great, thank you doreen I didnt think it was kidney related I thought perhaps it had to do with the intestines since thats where I got pain when I had trouble with IBS.. it just was a different kind of hurting so I wanted to be sure
