Check the reviews. One says it's the quality of carbs that counts. In other words, fresh whole vegetables and fruits are better than refined vegetables and fruits. However, the truth is that refined means we can eat more, which we do. So, in fact, it's a question of quantity, not quality. If we could eat enough fresh whole vegetables and fruits to reach an equivalent amount of refined sugar, then we'd suffer the same problems.
So if this diet works for some, then it's because they eat less carbs with this diet than they did with their previous diet. If it doesn't work for others, then it's because they eat as much or more carbs with this diet than they did with their previous diet.
There's fiber to take into account. It acts like a rubber balloon on the carbs we eat. We can't digest it so we can't get to the sugar within. Again, this is all about quantity, not quality. Fresh whole vegetables and fruits contain a lot of fiber within which is the sugar that we would otherwise digest and absorb were we able to digest the fiber.
Why would somebody have more energy on this diet? If they ate less carbs and thus produced less insulin which would allow more fat to be released from fat tissue thereby increasing the amount of energy available.
