Default Atkins to GI

I have been on Atkins for 4 months and am really pleased with my progress. However, I am struggling to follow the diet now as I have been diagnosed as lactose intolerant. I have switched to the GI diet plan but I don't want to put on any weight. For the past week I have been eating porridge for breakfast with soya milk, salad and chicken for lunch and veggies and meat with brown rice for dinner. However, I have put on weight. Will this come off again as my body readjusts or do I need to lower my carb intake? My mum is very unsupportive so I really need to adopt a style of eating that she sees as more "normal" . I'm sure some of you must have switched plans like this so any advice would be much appreciated.

I have read that when you switch, you do gain a couple of pounds of water weight that comes off in a short period of time.

When you eat more carbs you're going to be carrying around more water to store them. However, if you go low-carb again it'll go away in a very short time, like 2-3 days.
