Default Too much cytomel?

My endo put me, a Graves patient on 10 mcgs of T3 a day. Split dose, in an effort to help me lose weight. It has not. I have gained a pound a month since starting this in May.
I don't have my #'s in front of me, but since this dosage, I my Free T4 has gone down which is too be expected when you add T3. When I was diagnosed my FT4 was at 2.0. Now it is in the 1.3 range, if I remember.

Should I cut the dose to 5 to get my FT4 back up there in an effort to lose this weight? I feel good. I always felt good, but I am closing in on 4 years of dieting and exercising and NOT losing weight. Quite the opposite. I just finished a 3 week stretch of 1100 cals a day and guess what? I gained 2 pounds.

My endo can not find anything wrong with me, besides the Graves and she said that should HELP with a lose.

She referred me back to my Primary, who can't find anything wrong.

PLEASE advice. I am so lost and sad and feel so helpless.

How much soy and cruciform veggies are you eating? Raw cruciforms (broccoli, kale, cabbage, caulifower, etc) contain an enzyme that prevents absorption of T3, and unfermented soy does similar things. Getting exactly the right balance of T3 and T4 depends on many factors, including foods consumed. In my experience, most docs under-medicate until you complain enough. Also, when you drop calories low enough, the body sometimes slows metabolism. You are not alone - there are lots of us out here who have similar problems. Keep up your fight.

too much cytomel answer would be do you have hyper symptoms? Why not add a little T4 instead of cutting T3? 1.3 T4, if your test range is like mine up to 1.8, isn't bad.

I'm hypo and the only way I have ever lost wt is mixing things up with higher carb and cal days. there is a thread under tips and stalls "carb cycling works like magic for me".

I'm going through the same exact issues as you, for sure girl you're not alone. I stopped losing when I cut back my T3 9 months ago, ahhhhh!!!!

I found adding T3 didn't help me lose weight, just made me hyper. What did help (and does help) is to follow a paleo diet. I think eating antigenic foods like dairy, wheat and soy were hindering my efforts.

The bodybuilders I know take 25-100 mcg/day during contest prep. Some have even mentioned anabolic like effects due to the increased protein synthesis. These are both men and women.
