clear liquor on the rocks or with club soda. I sometimes muddle some berries and citrus in this-although this is more of a summer time drink. I also like very dry wine, but no more than 2 glasses -you are a guy, you can maybe have more. Dirty Martini's are great-chilled Vodka or gin strait up with olive juice. Served with blue cheese stuffed olives-if you are lucky.

I used to be a die hard micro brew beer drinker. Had to give it up. I can't stand mass produced lite or low carb beer (crime against nature), so it is rare to have a beer anymore.

I have found lately I am really having to restrict wine or cocktails. I think fall/winter has resulted in an increased craving for calories, and adding alcohol only puts me more over my limit.

I have vodkas mixed with diet coke. Absolute vanilla and diet coke taste alot like cream soda. And yes, the flavored Absolute vodkas are carb free. I also have clear Bacardi rum. If you like frozen cocktails, Baja Bob's mixes are great and they either mix with clear rum or tequila. My favorite is the mai tai's.

I got interested in this from another post and did a little research on my own. Here's a list of LC whiskies (all zero carbs per shot, unless you do it with a coke) http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art8068.asp. The thing to keep in mind is something I read in DANDR, page 157 in my 2002 edition.

Quote:
The body burns alcohol for fuel when alcohol is available. So when it is burning alcohol, your body will not burn fat. This does not stop weight loss; it simply postpones it. Since the alcohol does not get stored as glycogen, you immediately get back into lipolysis after the alcohol is used up. But keep in mind that alcohol consumption may increase yeast-related symptoms in some people (see Chapter 25) and interfere with weight loss.

Yes, from what I've learned, most all the flavored vodka brands are carb free, it's just that Absolute vanilla happens to be one of my favorites.
