Thumbs up Day 74 and liking the low carb life style

Hey everybody,

I'm glad I found this forum about the low carb lifestyle. The informational links and positive people have made me feel like I found a home for my new diet lifestyle.

Anyway, a little about myself. In my 20's and 30's I could just exercise and the weight would come right off. Now that I'm in my early 40's (43 this May) I can no longer do that. I found this out the hard way a year and a half ago, when I suffered a stress fracture in my lower left leg. Too much running and my weight was no longer dropping like it used to. 1 1/2 years later (and 30 pounds heavier) I realized I had to do something with my diet.

This past Christmas I discovered the Atkins diet and on New Years day 2002, I started. I'm feeling great and even my wife has started the diet with great results. There really is a life after wheat!

Mark

welcome, Mark! yeah, I know what you mean about age...I developed tendonitis in my hip from playing ice hockey (ice hockey! what a thing for a 44 year old woman to decide to take up! lol) and it took 18 months to heal well enough so that I could run again. Oh, to have the body of a 25 year old and yet know what we know now, eh?

I love your attitude in the post--sounds like you're well on your way to becoming a LC success story!

Hi Mark,

Way to go. I started Low carbing just 5 days before you did and I agree.....It's terrific. I had a tough time with getting all the water I should at first, but I'm drinking a gallon plus now with no problem.

A question for all you long-termers out there. When do I stop making all those trips to the bathroom throughout the day?

Keep up the good work Mark.

Bob

Greetings and welcome aboard!

If you like the lifestyle, then the problem is all but whipped. Both problems, actually, because you have to first lose the weight and then second keep it off for good.

Sounds like you have pretty much got it made. Great job!
