Default Ketosis question from a newbie!

Hello there, my name is Abi

I've been LCing since March this year and have managed to lose around 2 stone (13kg) since then, which I'm over the moon about. Low calorie diets have worked for me in the past but they just wouldn't shift any weight this time.

Anyway, at the start of the second week in induction I knew I was in ketosis because of the way my urine smelt. This continued up until I had a planned cheat for my birthday meal. I was soon able to get back into ketosis and the smell returned later that week. However, since then, the smell seems to have disappeared altogether, even though I've been sticking rigidly to the diet. I've also not lost any weight for around 2 weeks and I'm concerned that I'm no longer in ketosis.

Any advice? Does the smell just disappear after you've been in ketosis for a while?

Thanks for reading

The smell is likely from ketones spilling into your urine, before your body was used to making all the enzymes needed to use the ketones. Now, your body makes enough enzymes to use all or most of the ketones, so few to none are excreted in your urine. This is also why ketostix aren't a reliable indicator for ketosis as time goes by.

Do you still have a metallic taste in your mouth or a sweet note in your breath? Both of these are reliable indicators of ketosis. BTW -- stinky breath is a sign of putrified protein, which means you're eating too much or not breaking it down well.
