*L* Thought-provoking read. They addressed the root of the problem - the fact that Kellogg's can get away with labelling Poptarts as part of the food pyrimid. What a joke - it belongs in the "sweets" section ("choose these foods least often.")

While that debate wasn't terribly enlightening, that it happened at all is significant. The questioning of the low-fat dogma is now on the public agenda and that can only be good. As more and more people learn for the first time that there are questions and doubts, not to mention evidence to the contrary, the issue will snowball. I believe the high priests of low-fat are fearful that this genie is out of the bottle. If government is singled out as a major culprit, then justice is being done.

We live in good times.

Smile Food Pyramid

I have to share this with you. My daughter is taking a cooking class in her first year of high school. Wednesday she brought home a plastic sheet with the food pyramid on it. She told me she told her teacher that she doesn't follow it and that she was on a low carb diet with her family. The teacher said it was alright and that maybe she could show her what a food pyramid looks like for low carb.

Well I went through all my stuff and couldn't find one so I made one up.

I had proteins, cheeses, and fats for my bottom layer
I had veggies, dairy (giving examples of cream, sour cream, yogurt) for the next level.
For the top I split it and one half was low carb snacks and the other half was low carb fruit.

Well on Thursday her teacher like the pyramid and asked my daughter to give a small presentation on it.

cool huh?
