Default Induction Grocery List

Hey ya'll!!! I am making the commitment to start Atkins beginning on Monday. It allows me to go to the grocery store and start meal planning. I have been on the Atkins site and printed their induction list of items. But I am wondering if any of your veterans have any suggestions that worked for you. I am all about simple meals. Here is what I am thinking will be the basis of my meals for this first week, Eggs/Bacon for breakfast. Lunch will have to be a piece of meat with salad/veggies. Dinner will be chicken/steak/pork chops and veggies with some sugar free jello. What other things can I add to my grocery list to get me through the week without murdering someone

You may want to consider sausage instead of bacon as it's more substantial. As for the sugar-free Jello, that's got a lot of chemicals. You may want to consider frozen berries or peaches instead.

The plan that I'm following shows berries as being on rung 4 which is not in the induction phase.

Phase 1, Induction:
Rung 1: Foundation vegetables: leafy greens and other low-carb vegetables
Rung 2: Dairy foods high in fat and low in carbs: cream, sour cream, and most hard cheeses
Phase 2, Ongoing Weight Loss:
Rung 3: Nuts and seeds (but not chestnuts)
Rung 4: Berries, cherries, and melon (but not watermelon)
Rung 5: Whole milk yogurt and fresh cheeses, such as cottage cheese and ricotta
Rung 6: Legumes, including chickpeas, lentils, and the like.
Rung 7: Tomato and vegetable juice “cocktail” (plus more lemon and lime juice)
Phases 3 and 4, Pre-Maintenance and Lifetime Maintenance:
Rung 8: Other fruits (but not fruit juices or dried fruits)
Rung 9: Higher-carb vegetables, such as winter squash, carrots, and peas
Rung 10: Whole grains

Second timer here...
What is a nice "go to" for me is always having a can of tuna in the cabinet.
I pack my lunches and don't always have leftover meat, so the tuna mixed with mayo and mustard and over a salad is a lifesaver

Induction is all about being prepared...in my opinion, have lots of healthy go to's ready to go. If you can, I'd elimate even AS for the first week in an attempt to subdue the sugar beast early.

Meals look fine but I'd have a lot of snacks ready - I remember being HUNGRY - some psychological but also physical...it all depends on what your diet is like now.

I'd have deviled eggs ready to go, no nitrate lunch meat ready to wrap around cheese or cream cheese, stuffed celery, dill pickles, pork skins, olives etc.

Coffee with heavy whipping cream is YUMMY!! and it's truly one of my stand-bys to get me through when I feel a bit "peckish".

Deviled eggs as well as just hard boiled eggs are another good snack to have on hand.

I also keep a large bag ( I think there's 18 patties) of already prepared hamburger patties I get at Sam's...just be sure to get them 100% beef with no crazy crap added!

Wishing you loads of luck -
Deanna

Hi! I buy the frozen bag of cooked chicken breasts at Sam's. You can pack some for lunch and they will be thawed at lunchtime. I like them cold on a salad.

Hi Leanne you missed a huge staple of mine to have AVACADOS!!! make sure you have full fat mayo and full fat salad dressings (check labels) Something that is handy for me to always have is the frozen shredded spinach in the box...its great to add to eggs and bacon (one box is like 9 breakfasts for me) Oh also check out the cooking section there are a few recipes for egg muffins that are amazing for "on the go" ... see you around ... happy shopping

Definitely egg muffins! I make a bastch of small sausages odr pastries with spiced up ground meat, and snack those straight from the frtidge...with full fast Mayo sometimes. A box of egg Mayo salad is handy to munch, or wrap some with a romaine leaf.
