? about WL after weaning from breast
Hi guys! I'm not exactly "new" here, since I used to frequent the forums in 2003 and 2004. I got pregnant in 2004 and unfortunately the LC WOL went out the window with it. I couldn't stomach meat or vegetables (the mere thought of them made my stomach cramp). Anyway, I ended up gaining 40lbs (could've been worse, by what I was eating...trust me! lol).
Anyway, my DS is now 4.5 months old. We've been exclusively breastfeeding up until about 2 weeks ago, when I began a slow weaning process. He's doing great on soy formula, but I digress...
I've been eating maintenance levels with slack for eating "crap" occasionally and haven't been able to lose this last 15-20lbs. I think it's because I gained the 15lbs in the FIRST TRIMESTER!!! i.e. It was all FAT. So I know that nursing tends to inhibit ketosis and weight loss for most women. I was always able to get into ketosis in 24-48 hours with 30g or under. Now I can't get into it to save my life.
Sorry for the life story... my point is: I'm wondering how long it will take after I've completely weaned for the possibility of ketosis to return? I'm guessing the hormone prolactin is what inhibits ketosis, so maybe that has to be sufficiently low enough? I'm not expecting scientific responses, but personal experiences would be great! Thanks in advace.
