Default thyroiditis

Hello all ive been lurking and posting over on the atkins forum and just found this forum...glad you are all here...
i just came from the doctors today and found that i have thyroiditis...thats what he is calling it until he sees the results of my blood test....my biggest complaint over the last few weeks has been a choking sensation in my throat and that my throat looks huge...not painful but very uncomfortable...ive had about five or six more symptoms but kept ignoring them or thinking they were something else...im glad i went...once he touched my neck he said my thyroid was swollen to about three times its normal size...he also did a throat xray....and could see it...
ive never had a thyroid problem (im now 40) and apparently i am falling apart.. well thats what it feels like...i guess i am just wanting to whine and get a little support...im totally overwhelmed and when i read the hyper and hypo symptoms it seems like i have some from both ....
anyone else out there experience that throat swelling?

im in the same boat...my thyroid has 3 nodules which are like little growths that can produce their own hormones...at times i am overactive and at times im normal...and could be under too...

i also have symptoms of both and becaue of how often it fluctuates i dont want to take any meds...i do not want to get hypo

go for the scan and uptake and get a biopsy if need be. i was so worried it was cancer, im releived to know its graves disease

ppl here have told me to stay from soy and use coconut oil..apparently soy is toxic spically for ssomeone with thyroid issues...the coconut helps up metabolism and regulate the thyroid

good luck its annoying i know but stay on top of it...do some research and talk to ur dr...even if u think its stupid..

Read everything you can by Molly Shomon. There are several books and helpful websites. Hopefully things will get stable for you soon.
