Default What's a naturapath?

Did I spell that correct? Hollistic or similar? And are these types of doctors covered by insurances?
Probably not, right?

A more nautral approach to medicine. Some may say Holisitc. Some may say Alternative. I doubt most insurances cover, but you can always call the number on the back of your card to find out. Most insurance companies will only cover things they deem "medically necessary". (I work in insurance.) You could also call the office of the practice and find out what insurances, if any, they participate with. Often times those types of offices are strictly self pay.

When I was trying to get my thyroid diagnosed I went to a standard doctor and a holistic (got the recommendation from atkins center) just to get 2 different opinions. The way it worked for me was I got the blood tests paid for with my standard doctor and I got the prescription from the holistic doctor. The thyroid I take is cheaper than the insurance copays so the Dr. ordered it directly for me about a 3 year supply for less then $100.

Since then I go to the standard doctor tell them I am hypothyroid, on this medication. They have not questioned it and will give me the prescription for natural thyroid since I say I feel great.

If you have PPO you can go to any doctor and have it reimbursed. I got lucky my last doctor was holistic and covered by insurance. I just moved and don't know how to find another one like that.

Thats cool to hear because I have thyroid problems as well. I am going for a 6 month check up next week, and I haven't been on meds in about 6 months, but I anticipate having to go back on them in the future (according to my dr). I'll have to keep this in mind. Do you know the name of the medication?

Nancy, glad to hear your thyroid treatment is going so well!

Hey, how's the weather out there in San Diego? (*giggle*)
