I doubt it's quite accurate, but supposedly she claimed she was 38-23-36. Neverminding the bust, even if she underestimated that waist by 2 or 3 inches, that is pretty thin. In my current size 6, my hips are 38.5.

I was also thinking that older style pinups look curvier because of the clothes they're in. They're usually corseted, making the chest and hips look bigger than they are. And our thighs would all look more generous too in the boycut styles. Even chunkier heels and rounded toes make one look curvier.

Thank you, BMarieB, for posting the lovely painting. Being thin is way overrated. Obesity adversely affects health, but within a wide range of sizes, there are many beautiful proportions of the human body.

I remember watching America's Next Top Model a few seasons ago and telling my SO that I wish I could be as thin as the "plus size" model.

I personally don't care what size my clothes say I am, I just want to be comfortable in my own skin, and at a 12/14 I'm not. If I am at a size 8 then I'll be happy, if I dont get there until I'm a size 5, then I'll be happy at a 5. Regardless of adds like this one and the "ideal" body right now we all know that this isn't realistic for an average woman. I managed to snag myself a good man and a good job at a size 12 after all!
