I just bought a $100 food saver to vacuum seal.

Very big Rice maker: $40

My rice cooker has a hole in the top (with a plug that fits in), that's where I drop the temperature probe in. You do have to ensure you get one that doesn't have sharp edges if you have to put it over the lip instead.
