The avocado pickles are refrigerator only, & as far as regular pickles go there's no food safety issue (I'm a food safety advisor). Using fake sugar it's a matter of taste. I don't want to waste lovely avocados if fake sugar makes them taste bad.

I suppose I could divide the batch in half, or even in thirds. One with no sugar, one with liquid sucralose, & one with Splenda.
