Sadly, they probably would. They FDA was bought by the industry years ago. They no longer care about food being healthy. All they care about is getting their palms greased. After Aspartame was initially approved, several FDA officials were given high-paying jobs with NutraSweet. The FDA has fought to keep Stevia off the market at the behest of NutraSweet and the Sugar Industry. The only thing that the FDA cares about anymore is cold hard cash. The more you got, the easier it is to get approved and to block your competitors' approval.
